CRECO is a national coalition of civil society organizations, founded in 1998 and registered in 2005 as a Trust.  It works to enhance capacities of its members and stakeholders in issues of constitutionalism and governance.

Today it stands as a network of 22 like-minded civil society organizations, operating in 7 out of the 8 provinces of Kenya. In enriching its diversity, CRECO welcomes other CSOs to join its membership.  To become a member a CSO is requested to:

  • Write an application letter showing interest in becoming a member of the organization
  • Attach copy of the organization registration certificate
  • The organization profile listing board members and areas of operation
  • The organization constitution
  • Any other relevant material that might give information about the organization.
Membership recruitment interviews are held once a year, and the Management Committee/Board of CRECO is responsible for reviewing all applications and calling qualified CSOs for interviews.

If after the interview your organization qualifies to become a member of CRECO, the decision is passed to the Governing Council of CRECO which comprises of the 22 members who then ratify the decision as to whether your organization should become a member or not.

Once this is done, then the organization selected are eligible to attend, vote and make decisions during CRECO Council and Annual General Meetings. New members joining CRECO are required to pay a membership fee and thereafter shall be paying an annual subscription fee.
